Innamincka Regional ReserveTo reach the Innamincka Regional Reserve you can
Before heading to Innamincka, be sure to be well prepared and to have detailed maps (e.g. Westprint Heritage Map: Innamincka and Coongie Lakes). When touring within the Reserve a desert park pass is required. There are many things to see and to do in the reserve including Innamincka township; Coognie Lakes (about 100 km north of Innamincka), Cullyamurra Waterhole (great spot to camp!); historic sites along the Coopers Creek (including Burke's and Wills' Grave) and the Dig Tree (which is already in Queensland and not part of the reserve). Boating on the Creek, fishing, and swimming are very enjoyable. There are many great camping areas along the Creek: Cullymurra Waterhole, Policeman's Waterhole and Coognie Lakes. A desert park pass is required for all these camping areas. Innamincka Town Common is also a good camping area; a desert park pass is not required here. The Innamincka Regional Reserve Park Headquarters are open from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm daily. The office is staffed from 9.00 am to 11.00 am and from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. The Innamincka Hotel and Trading Post offer general information. Before heading to Coognie Lakes, please check road-conditions. Fires, dogs, generators and fishing are not permitted in the Coongie Conservation Zone, because of its delicate nature and wildlife.
