Mt Remarkable National Park
Located near the southern end
of the Flinders Ranges, about 50 km south of Port Augusta (also see the location
map); the Mt Remarkable National Park is providing a more diverse habitat for
flora and fauna. This combined with the scenic attractions make this park
popular for bushwalkers and campers.
The main attractions of Mt
Remarkable National Park are Alligator Gorge, Mt Remarkable and Spring Creek
Mine. There are also several bushwalking-tracks for shorter and longer walks,
some with overnight stays on a campground.
Most of the
campground within the park can be reached by walking only. Mambray Creek
Picnic and Camping Area is the only one with car access via Princess
Highway. The National Park Headquarters is located near this Camping area.
Mt Remarkable National Park is a perfect stop, before heading
north to the Outback.
