Gregory National Park

Gregory National Park is located about 175 km southwest of Katherine (NT) and can be easily reached via the Victoria Highway. The park covers around 13.000 km2 and is the second largest National Park in the Northern Territory. The park consists of two parts: The Victoria River section (eastern section) with access to the Victoria River and the much larger Bullita section in the west. Bullita formerly was an outstation. The old buildings can still be seen. The ranger station is nearby.

Gregory National ParkA number of 4 WD tracks have been established within the park. All roads, including the Victoria Highway may be closes during the wet. So check road-conditons before travelling to the Gregory National Park. The 4 WD tracks are usally closed from December to April.

The gorges and ranges within the park are spectacular. There are also significant traces of Aboriginal culture, European explorers and pastoral history to be seen.

Greorgy National Park is not visited very frequently and so you may not see any other car when travelling through the park, exspecially when travelling on the 4WD tracks. The tracks are pretty rugged and high clearance is essential. No provisions are available in the park. Visitors must be self-sufficent. The nearest stores are in Timber Creek  and Victoria River.Gregory National Park

A number of camping areas have been estalbished throughout the park with B.B.Qs, picnic tables and pit toilets provided. Camping fees apply.

Caution: The rivers and creeks in the park are inhabited by Freshwater and Saltwater Crocodiles. Be careful near waterways!
