Alice Springs

Alice Springs (also known as "The Alice") is a pleasant and modern town in the heart of Central Australia and the homeland of the Arrernte Aboriginal people. Today about 25.000 are living here.Alice Springs might be the start or the end of your Outback-Trip. The aiport is about 15 km south of the town.

Alice SpringsThe Overland Telegraph Line from Adelaide to Darwin was completed in 1872 and a Telegraph Station was build near a Waterhole, named after Charles Todd's wife: Alice Springs. The Old Telegraph Station is a museum now with interesting displays about the Telegraph Line and life in these early days of Alice Springs.

Today the town of Alice Springs (named "Stuart" until 1933) is located about 3 km south of the Telegraph Station and is the major access point to most of the attractions of central Australia (Uluru, Kings Canyon, Rainbow Valley...).Alice Springs

Alice Springs is also the major business-centre with shops, restaurants and community services. When travelling through the Outback, Alice Springs offers everything you might need for your trip. Don't forget to check your car. You don't get a better chance to do it, than in Alice Springs, where all kind of mechanical repairs are available.

There are several Caravanparks, Motels and Hotels  in or close to the town. For further details, contact the tourist information or see the links below.

Alice Springs

The Anzac Hill is very popular in the evening. A lot of people go there to watch the sunset over the McDonnell Ranges.

There's a lot to see in Alice Springs, for example the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Adelaide House or the Alice Springs Desert Park. But there's much more to see and to do, to much to write it down here. For more information follow the links below.
